Sergei Kostitsyn smartens up: Reports to the Bulldogs

0809-vest1 Having behaved like the child on his knee for a week, Sergei Kostitsyn is apparently reporting to the Hamilton Bulldogs

RDS has reported that disgruntled Montreal Canadiens forward Sergei Kostitsyn will report to the Hamilton Bulldogs on Tuesday.

Kostitsyn had been suspended by the Canadiens, when he refused to report to the team’s AHL affiliate, after being cut by Montreal last week.

The Belarusian forward had said that he would rather be traded than report, something Habs GM Bob Gainey was not going to cater to.

There had been some rumors that Kostitsyn and agent Don Meehan had put an ultimatum on the Canadiens, threatening to leave for the KHL if the winger was not traded.

In all likelihood the KHL wants no part of this having already been in contract agreement in conflicts with the NHL over past jumps by players.

The fact that Meehan and his client had not formally talked until this past weekend adds to the unlikeliness that the KHL was an option.
